Vintage Vespas

This page is only included for interest. We are not offering this conversion at present due to workload.

It is unlikely we will be able to offer this conversion for the forseeable future.

dsc0095.jpg - 11818 Bytes MB Developments occasionally turn their hands to work on older Vespas.
This head is from a Vespa SS180.
This offset head was used on many old Vespas and some early type P ranges.
We have modified this head for an SS200 big bore conversion we are doing for a customer of ours.
dsc00252.jpg - 11818 Bytes SS180-200 cylinder conversion, this shows the road tuned inlet port.
The SS180 was the last of the piston ported Vespas, after this all Vespas were rotary valve only.
dsc00253.jpg - 11818 Bytes To convert the 180 barrel to 200cc we needed to bore the cylinder out to take a 66.5mm P200 piston. This piston needs a hole welding up to allow the inlet port timimgs to work.
dsc00254.jpg - 11818 Bytes This is just a view of the basic porting layout of the SS200 cylinder.
dsc00254.jpg - 11818 Bytes On the left is the standard (seized up) SS180 piston.
On the right is a modfied and welded up P200 Asso piston as used in the MBD SS200 conversion.
